Excuses

I’m not ignoring you. Really, I’m not.  It is just that I’ve been so busy on Flickr, Vox, and MySpace I haven’t had much extra time.  Also, I’ve been trying to get my new laptop set up at work.  You know all of the copying, loading, transferring files and things.  I’ve been very, very busy.

I was hoping to catch up this weekend, but guess what?  Zach has the chickenpox.  Turns out he got exposed just before we went out of town.  We’ll see how that goes.  So far he’s not too fussy.  I do have Monday and Tuesday off work so that is a little promising. Maybe I’ll catch up then.

Because One Is Never Enough

I absolutely HATE MySpace.  I have always hated it, since the first time I heard of it.  I hate the whole concept of being cool based on how many "friends" you have.  But, at the same time I do kind of like the whole community aspect.  Last weekend I found out that one of my best friends signed up for MySpace.  Then I went to the reunion and heard that a couple more people had MySpace pages.  So, I caved.  I gave in.  I signed up so I could comment on their pages and now I’m a follower.  If you are on MySpace, stop by and say hi.  You can find me here.

Before I went on vacation, I also mentioned that I got an invite for VOX, the new multimedia blogging platform from Six Apart.  Vox is still a work in progress, but they needed people to test it out before the final release.  I’ve been playing around with it and so far I love it.  One of the greatest features of Vox is that you can upload your photos, videos, music, etc. to share with everyone.  It is somewhat similar to MySpace in that it has a huge emphasis on community.  When you find other friends or bloggers you enjoy, you can add them to your neighborhood.

The reason I’m telling you this is that my "neighborhood" is looking pretty lonely right now.  I would like to send invites out to any of you that might be interested in checking out Vox.  Right now, I have only 2 standard invites that will allow you full access including a blog.  I also have unlimited starter invites that allows you a member profile, neighborhood, and commenting privileges.  As Vox grows, the starter accounts will change over to standard accounts.

So, if you are interested in checking out Vox, leave me a comment or send me an e-mail and I will get you hooked up.  If you want to take a look around first, please check out my page here.

Birthday Boy

bday 325

One year ago today I was in a hospital bed anxiously awaiting his arrival.  Today I have the most awesome 1-year-old ever.  We celebrated his birthday yesterday with all of our family and friends.  He enjoyed every minute of it and REALLY enjoyed his cake!

There are a few pictures posted to Flickr, but will be many more as soon as I have time to get them up.  Sometime this week I’ll be posting the one-year letter, a little about our trip, and my 10-year reunion.  But for now, I gotta try to get caught up at work.

Home Sweet Home

Wow.  We finally got back home on Wednesday and have been trying to recover from the trip since then.  I’ve been waiting to get some relaxation time in, but so far have been super busy.

We had a really great time in Arizona.  We spent most of the time with Hubby’s family and didn’t really get a chance to do much tourist kinda stuff.  We did go to the Grand Canyon on Tuesday which was pretty amazing to see.  I really wish I would have had a better camera to take pictures with there because my little Kodak didn’t even come close to capturing the beauty of it.

The wedding and all of the festivities surrounding it were a lot of fun.  My sister-in-law’s family is Mexican and it was really interesting to spend some time with them and learn about their traditions.  We also got to taste some very authentic Mexican food, some of which I liked, some of which I did not.

Yesterday, Hubby got up with Zach and I actually slept in until Noon.  That was so awesome.  I can’t remember the last time I did that.  And today it is 10:00 and Zach is still sleeping.  That has NEVER happened before.  I thought about waking him up, but I’m enjoying it too much.

I’ve got major cleaning to do today before picking my friend Amy up from the airport.  Tomorrow is my 10-year class reunion.  Sunday is Zach’s birthday party.  Then Monday I’m back to work.  I think I might cry a little bit when I have to go back.  It has been so wonderful being on vacation!

Shout Out From Arizona

dee & zach

I had to feed my addiction this morning and post a picture this morning.  I love this shot of me and Zach.

We’re having a really great time in Arizona so far.  The only internet connection I have is through my cell phone and it is driving me crazy.  I wish I had my own car so I could go find a wireless connection somewhere.  I can’t wait to get home and upload all the photos I’ve taken.  I think I have over 200 already and we haven’t even done the touristy stuff yet.

Leaving On A Jet Plane

In approximately 23 hours and 33 minutes I will be on a plane heading to Phoenix.  I have to admit I’m getting a little excited.  I love traveling to new places that I’ve never been to before.  I’m not sure how much time I’ll actually get to explore the area because we’ll be with the in-laws, but I’m sure we’ll still have a great time.  I found out lastnight that the base housing that they reserved for us includes a high chair and a playpen that Zach can sleep in.  That is so awesome.

My Amazon order came in this morning so I’ll have my Combi Urban Baby Carrier to tote the boy around in.  I also have some new reading material thanks to the book suggetion from Pammer.  I’m hoping Zach will fall asleep on the plane (Wish me luck!  Benadryl anyone?) so I can get started on it.

Another cool thing I found out lastnight is that the wedding reception includes an open bar.  It’s a good thing Granny and Poppa will be there to watch Zach while hubby and I enjoy ourselves a bit.

Now all I have to worry about is the packing.  Laundry is done.  One dog has been dropped off.  Some packing has been done.  Yard has been mowed.  Transportation to the airport has been arranged.  Camera and laptop batteries have been charged.

Now I suppose I should get some work done so I can get the heck out of here!
