Is It Friday Yet?

I totally need a weekend to recover from my weekend.  Damn, I’m tired.  I seriously wanted to throw the alarm clock out the window this morning when it went off, but I was good.  I refrained.  Instead, I just hit the snooze button 5 hundred times and got up about 20 minutes late.  Great way to start a Monday, right?

So I rushed around and got out the door only a few minutes later than normal, dropped off the kid, and then as soon as I arrived in the parking lot at work realized that I forgot my damn laptop.  I briefly thought about making do without it today before I realized it is the last day of the month and I have to close the books and all of my accounting stuff is on the laptop.  Damn.

I drove all the way back home, grabbed my laptop and a Coke Zero and rushed back to the office.  I finally arrived at my original destination around 9:15.  Once again, great way to start off a Monday morning.  At least the boss-man laughed about it and wasn’t pissed.

But, I did have an awesome weekend.  We had a great time at the lake.  Everything was perfect except for the part where Zach refused to go to sleep until MIDNIGHT Friday night and the part where the electricity kept going out on Saturday and, you know, the HEAT.

We spent most of the day Saturday out on the boat which was a blast.  Zach did really well on the boat, but he got angry every time we slowed down.   The first time out he fell asleep.  The second time out he just chilled out on my lap and was fairly content until he started getting bored.  He wasn’t very fond of the life jacket though.

When we got back in town on Sunday, we unpacked, played with Zach for a while, then showered and headed over to my sister’s to pick up the dogs.  When we got there my sis talked hubby into going to Granite City and drinking a couple beers with her so the rest of us munched on some appetizers while they had a couple drinks.  Afterwards they tried to get us to stay and watch a movie but we declined and headed home.  For the third night in a row, Zach didn’t get to sleep until after 10:00.

I actually didn’t take any pictures at all at the lake.  I was too busy chasing after Zach and keeping him out of the lake, the fans, the fire, and all of the easily accessible breakable stuff in the lake house.  Plus, I was too afraid that my camera would somehow manage to get thrown in the lake and I just wasn’t ready to let everybody see me cry.

I did, however, take a couple of shots of Zach and his cousin playing lastnight in their matching Blue’s Clues outfits.  Seriously, these guys are just too cute!

Home Sweet Home

Wow.  We finally got back home on Wednesday and have been trying to recover from the trip since then.  I’ve been waiting to get some relaxation time in, but so far have been super busy.

We had a really great time in Arizona.  We spent most of the time with Hubby’s family and didn’t really get a chance to do much tourist kinda stuff.  We did go to the Grand Canyon on Tuesday which was pretty amazing to see.  I really wish I would have had a better camera to take pictures with there because my little Kodak didn’t even come close to capturing the beauty of it.

The wedding and all of the festivities surrounding it were a lot of fun.  My sister-in-law’s family is Mexican and it was really interesting to spend some time with them and learn about their traditions.  We also got to taste some very authentic Mexican food, some of which I liked, some of which I did not.

Yesterday, Hubby got up with Zach and I actually slept in until Noon.  That was so awesome.  I can’t remember the last time I did that.  And today it is 10:00 and Zach is still sleeping.  That has NEVER happened before.  I thought about waking him up, but I’m enjoying it too much.

I’ve got major cleaning to do today before picking my friend Amy up from the airport.  Tomorrow is my 10-year class reunion.  Sunday is Zach’s birthday party.  Then Monday I’m back to work.  I think I might cry a little bit when I have to go back.  It has been so wonderful being on vacation!

Shout Out From Arizona

dee & zach

I had to feed my addiction this morning and post a picture this morning.  I love this shot of me and Zach.

We’re having a really great time in Arizona so far.  The only internet connection I have is through my cell phone and it is driving me crazy.  I wish I had my own car so I could go find a wireless connection somewhere.  I can’t wait to get home and upload all the photos I’ve taken.  I think I have over 200 already and we haven’t even done the touristy stuff yet.

Leaving On A Jet Plane

In approximately 23 hours and 33 minutes I will be on a plane heading to Phoenix.  I have to admit I’m getting a little excited.  I love traveling to new places that I’ve never been to before.  I’m not sure how much time I’ll actually get to explore the area because we’ll be with the in-laws, but I’m sure we’ll still have a great time.  I found out lastnight that the base housing that they reserved for us includes a high chair and a playpen that Zach can sleep in.  That is so awesome.

My Amazon order came in this morning so I’ll have my Combi Urban Baby Carrier to tote the boy around in.  I also have some new reading material thanks to the book suggetion from Pammer.  I’m hoping Zach will fall asleep on the plane (Wish me luck!  Benadryl anyone?) so I can get started on it.

Another cool thing I found out lastnight is that the wedding reception includes an open bar.  It’s a good thing Granny and Poppa will be there to watch Zach while hubby and I enjoy ourselves a bit.

Now all I have to worry about is the packing.  Laundry is done.  One dog has been dropped off.  Some packing has been done.  Yard has been mowed.  Transportation to the airport has been arranged.  Camera and laptop batteries have been charged.

Now I suppose I should get some work done so I can get the heck out of here!
