The Haircut Saga Continues

I have spent years now trying to find the right person to cut my hair and so far the best person I have found is myself. Unfortunately, it’s kinda hard to cut my own hair because I don’t have eyes in the back of my head. I was under the impression that all moms had this feature, but apparently mine haven’t grown in yet. When they do, it will certainly solve my hair issues.

Anyway, so I have been searching and searching for a good hair stylist with no success. A few weeks ago I went to get a haircut because my hair is falling out (one of those lovely post-partum things). I told the girl exactly what I wanted, showed her a picture and thought she understood. She didn’t come even close to what I told her. So, I decided I would go elsewhere and have it cut again. I did that today. Do you think I got the cut I wanted? Of course not!

I really don’t understand what is so hard to understand about the kind of cut I want. It isn’t complicated. Yes, I have naturally curly hair which makes it a bit more difficult, but if you have been to cosmetology school and are licensed, you should know how to cut curly hair. I can do it and I haven’t been taught. I just figured it out myself. I have now wasted $60 and still don’t have the haircut I want.

I suppose my next step is just to do it myself and take the risk of being a bit crooked in the back. At least the curls will help hide it!

Completeness

Sometimes I feel like my day is just not complete unless I have written a blog entry. My blog is my place to get out my excess energy. It is my place to rant, brag, be creative, and just release all of the things in my head. I suppose that’s why I like it so much. It is therapuetic in a way. Some days I don’t have a specific topic in mind to write about, but as soon as I start typing it usually rushes to me.

Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time investigating Content Management Systems. I have a website project that I’ve been putting off for a while because I would like to set it up with a CMS. I need something that I can set up and then have several different users update pages on a regular basis. It is for a non-profit, so I can’t really spend any money on a fancy system. I have considered using either Moveable Type or WordPress for it, but am not sure that either of them will be exactly what I want. So, I’ve been on a search and so far have not found just the right one.

During my search, however, I did come across a free blog host that some of you Tbloggers may be interested in. It seems almost everyone at Tblog is jumping ship all of a sudden and I’ve had lots of them asking for suggestions of places to go. My new discovery is http://www.blogsome.com/. The service is free and is run on WordPress, which is pretty user friendly. I haven’t tried out Blogsome yet, but I do use WordPress and have no complaints. If you are still looking around, it might be an option to try out. There is also the fairly new http://wordpress.com/, but it requires an invite which I haven’t received yet.

Time Sure Does Fly!

I can’t believe it is Tuesday already! This weekend went by so quickly. It’s really all a big blur now. There were birthday celebrations, friends, and family. Then there were sick babies, cancelled soccer games, a broken air conditioner, a rushed trip to the store for baby supplies, good food, great desserts, and movies. Suddenly it was Monday. I stayed home with the sick baby, which just made me jealous of all the mommies that get to stay home all the time. Even though he was sick, we had a wonderful day together. Now I’m back at work trying to catch up and catch my breath.

Do you ever…

…catch yourself thinking in blog entries? Sometimes when I have something on my mind I will realize that I have given it a title and am writing it out in my head. I caught myself doing it in the shower this morning. It would have been a great entry if only I could remember what it was about!

Relaxing Among the Chaos

We got our new carpet installed yesterday morning. Because they had to come during the day, I got to stay home from work so I could be there when they arrived. Plus, we had to have everything moved out of the rooms that they were carpeting so I had a bit of work to do as well. We pretty much had everything moved out Sunday night, but there were a few things that we left to the last minute.

Monday morning I got to sleep in for a little bit, then I got up and took the baby to day care. I figured as long as I had to pay her anyway, she might as well watch him so I could get some things done around the house. My housekeeping has been terrible since the baby was born and I really wanted to catch up on a few things. I spent the first couple of hours just cleaning my bedroom. I put away laundry, dusted, and pulled out the furniture to vacuum behind it. I was both amazed and disgusted to see what kind of filth we had been living with. After the bedroom was done, I started working on the bathroom and then decided that what I really needed was to just relax for a while.

I decided to lay down on the bed and just read for a while. I read several chapters of the book that I planned on reading during my maternity leave. I desperately wanted a nap but didn’t want to fall asleep in case the carpet installers needed something. So, I read my book and flipped channels until they were done. I’m pretty sure that was the most relaxing hour and a half I have had in the last 3 months. It may have been the first time I have been alone since the baby was born now that I think of it.

Of course, it couldn’t last. They finished the carpet and I got up and slowly started re-building my living room and computer room. One of the great things about getting the carpet put in is that it forced me to re-think my room arrangements. I’ve been feeling very cramped in the living room, so we’re going to get rid of some things and re-arrange the rest of the furniture. I’m going to clear out some of the cluttery stuff that I had sitting around and hopefully it will be a much more relaxing place for me.

So far, I am loving the way the living room is turning out. The carpet looks great and when I get home tonight our big screen tv should be there. Hopefully I can quickly get the kitchen back to normal (everything got shoved in there to prepare for the carpet) and then sit on my butt in front of the new tv for a couple hours.
