Welcome Caitlin!

Welcome Caitlin!, originally uploaded by deew27.

My little brother and his wife have a new addition to the family! Caitlin Renae was born around 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Mom and baby are doing well and Dad seems to be holding up too. I spent most of the afternoon at the hospital waiting to get a chance to hold her and it was worth every second!

Caitlin is the first baby girl on my side of the family and we’re all quite proud of her She’s rather cute, don’t you think?

26 Weeks

I’m a little late posting my 26 week belly shot, but things have been just a tad bit busy this week. I did manage to take a little time out to snap a couple of pics of the ever expanding belly though. The scary part is knowing how big my Christmas tree actually is and seeing that I practically hide the whole thing when I stand in front of it now…and I still have another three months of growing to do!

I Knew It Would Come In Useful Someday

One of the generally not so nice things about pregnancy is the heightened sense of smell that most women experience.  Even some of your favorite smells can become horrid when they are ten times stronger than normal.  Of course, when you live with a toddler and four animals (not to mention a husband) most of the smells in every day life aren’t so pleasant.  That’s why I didn’t find it out of the ordinary when I smelled something strange on my way out the door this morning.  But, when I came home and still smelled the awful smell, I had to find the source of it.

My nose led me to the couch and when I didn’t find anything there I looked underneath.  There it was.  A sippy cup wreaking of sour milk.  My best guess is that it has been there since either Friday night or Saturday morning.  As mentioned in my last post, we’ve barely been home over the last few days and I didn’t miss the cup during that time.   I cracked the cup open just enough to confirm my suspicions, then chucked it in the trash.  No need to torture myself by trying to clean it out.

As awful as it was to find the cup, I have to say I’m thankful for my pregnancy nose right now.  I can’t imagine how much worse it might have gotten before I found the cup otherwise.

Sometimes Real Life Takes Up Too Much Time

I feel like I haven’t been home since Thursday night. I guess I have been home, but really only long enough to sleep, get up, shower, and head out again. Things have been just a tad bit busy.

Friday night after work, I convinced Hubby to go shopping with me and we completely finished our Christmas shopping. If I left anyone out then they are just going to have to deal with it because I am done. I still have some gifts to make, but I’m hoping I’ll get them done up this weekend. Only one of those has to be shipped and I’m really hoping I can get it finished in the next day or two. It may end up being a little late.

Saturday was spent at my nephew Ryan’s 3rd birthday party. The funniest moment of the day was when Zach tried to help Ryan blow out his candles and his hand managed to land right in the middle of the cake. Fortunately, no one minded too much and the cake was eaten up, hand print and all. After the party, we stuck around for a while and hung out with my family while we watched the snow continue to fall.

What? Can't I just eat my cake?

Sunday was spent at church, and then a holiday party for our Sunday School class. The party was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed getting to visit with some of our friends that we don’t get to hang out with often.

Monday it was back to work, but we had our office holiday lunch to break the day up and then I got to leave a little early to get Zach ready for his very first school Christmas program. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a bunch of toddlers and preschoolers, but it was really very cute.

Zachary’s class participated in an angel band where they played instruments and sang a few songs. Then they acted out the nativity scene with a little help from a narrator. Zachary got to play the part of a shepherd and was absolutely adorable. Unfortunately, he spent most of his stage time with his back to the crowd because he was fixated on trying to hang his sheep back up on the board behind him. After that, he decided to play with the hay in the manger. The only bad part was that it was too dark to get any good pictures of him. We got a few fuzzy shots of him, along with a very dark video but I guess that will have to do.

My Little Shepherd

Tuesday was another busy night as we trekked up North to see my nephew Dylan’s Christmas play. He was really excited to get to play the part of Santa in the play and couldn’t wait for us to see him. He did an excellent job and the play was very cute. I managed to get a few pictures of him, although again the lighting was an issue.

Christmas on Candy Cane Lane-4

Tonight I plan to go home and not do much of anything (except maybe some knitting) if I can help it. I’m already exhausted and it is only Wednesday. It’s a good thing I have a long weekend to look forward to.

It Puts Me In The Christmas Mood

Many years ago, my ex and I picked up a Christmas cd (A Very Special Christmas, Vol. 3) because it had a track on it by Chris Cornell. It also had some tracks by other artists we liked such as Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews, Hootie and the Blowfish, and a few others. Since that year, it has continued to be one of my favorite Christmas cds. It is the one I always pull out first when I want to get in the Christmas mood. There is one track on there that almost gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and that is Chris Cornell’s Ave Maria. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.
