iheartfaces – Best Face Photo

It’s time for my first iheartfaces weekly challenge of 2010! This week’s theme is “Best Face Photo” and they are asking for your best face photo from either December 2009 or early January 2010. I took a ton of photos during December thanks to my awesome new camera, but this is the one that has stuck out as my favorite!

It started snowing Christmas day and the kids were begging to get out and play in it. We finally got out on New Year’s Eve and Evie got to experience her first time really playing in the snow. She was unsure at first, but once she got used to it she really had fun!

Seriously, Where Did December Go?!?

So, I’m throwing up a few cute kid pics to distract from the fact that I haven’t really updated for most of the month of December.  Life got busy, ok?  To let you know just how busy it has been, I managed to lose about 8 pounds without even trying.  Between the crazy cleaning and prettying up my house in anticipation of the in-laws’ arrival and just not taking the time to eat, I guess my body used up some extra energy.  This also tells me that I should really spend less time sitting…next year.

So, on to the pictures.  Most of these were from my nephew Ryan’s 5th birthday party (and I’m still trying to deny that he’s 5, because that means Zach will be 5 in just a few short months!).

This one isn’t of kids, but it is a great pic of my dad and Debie so I thought I’d share it anyway!

A Night With Zac Brown Band

IMG_0161

Thursday night Hubby and I had the pleasure of seeing Zac Brown Band perform.  I knew the first time I heard “Chicken Fried” that they were a band to watch and they quickly became a favorite.  I pre-ordered The Foundation long before it was released and listened to it over and over again.  I don’t think there’s a song on it that I don’t like.

I waited for well over a year to get a chance to see them live and it was definitely worth the wait. They were absolutely amazing live. I’ve seen a lot of live music and it’s rare to see a band put so much emotion and heart into a performance. The whole show was incredible, but I’ll never forget the raw emotion of “Junkyard,” a song written about Zac Brown’s home life when he was a child.

Opening acts Levi Lowry, Sonia Leigh, and Nic Cowen were all great too. Instead of the traditional concert set up where each act plays for an allotted amount of time, each one played a few songs alone, then Zac Brown and various other musicians from each band joined in. It was like one big jam session with everybody playing together.

I decided to take a chance and bring my good camera along so I could zoom in. I wasn’t thrilled with all of the photos, but I got enough good ones to make me happy. I definitely need to work on getting sharper photos in a dark environment. I played around with settings a little bit, but in the end I was getting better shots on auto so I gave up.  I did have a girl come up to me halfway through the show and ask if I would e-mail her some pictures though.

I ♥ Faces – Autumn Beauty

This week’s I ♥ Faces challenge is Autumn Beauty. I had plans of getting my kids out in the leaves last weekend for a fun Autumn shot, but the weather didn’t cooperate. It was cold and rainy all weekend so we didn’t get outside at all. Instead, I pulled up this photo from last Thanksgiving. I love this shot of my daughter. Looking back at it now she looks so tiny.

The Difference Two Years Makes

Halloween 2007
A Toy Story

Halloween 2009
IMG_3174.jpgRyan wore Zach’s Buzz Lightyear costume from 2 years ago.  Zach, unfortunately, could not wear Ryan’s Woody costume! (We did steal the belt and sheriff star badge though.)  You would never guess that Zach is actually 6 months younger than Ryan.

And now I promise I’ll stop posting Halloween pictures.

Well, after this one…

Pretty sure that’s the cutest little princess I’ve ever seen in my life.

A Very Happy Halloween

Halloween weekend was fun, but so busy that I still feel like I’m behind.  We spent Friday night with my Dad and his wife, then Saturday we headed up to my sister’s house and pretty much spent the rest of the weekend there.

IMG_3326.jpg

The kids got to Trick or Treat with their cousins through my sister’s neighborhood.  We had an alien, Woody and Buzz Lightyear (from Toy Story), Mickey and Minnie, and my little princess.  I couldn’t even keep up with Zach (though I was lagging behind a bit waiting on tiny princess legs to catch up).  Evie finally figured out what was going on about 2/3 of the way through and started trying to push her way through the boys so she could get to the door and say “Tick ‘o’ Teet!”

IMG_3332.jpg

At one point, Evie started asking for her Aunt Tanya.  When I pointed ahead of us and told her that Tanya was way up there, she looked up at me, said “Run, Run!” and started running to catch up.  Maybe you had to be there, but I think it was pretty much the cutest thing ever.  She kept yelling, “Running, Running!” until we caught up. (So maybe it was cuter if you could actually hear her and see her little face light up as she ran.)

I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t get some better pictures of the kids in their costumes, but it was rather crazy with all six kids running around.  I do seem to be missing a few that I thought were uploaded to flickr though, so I guess I’m going to have to check my camera again for the rest.
