Merry Christmas to all of our family and friends! Wishing you peace and happiness in the new year.

Comments closedWe had a wonderful Christmas at our house and we’re not done yet. We had a nice quiet Christmas morning with the kids, then went to my mom’s house in the evening and exchanged gifts with the rest of my family. Tonight we’re heading over to my brother’s house for a meal and gift exchange with my dad his wife.
Presents and everything else aside though, what I enjoyed most about Christmas this year was just being with my family. I feel like this was the best Christmas I’ve ever had. I feel so blessed and it has been really nice to sit back, relax, and enjoy everything that I have.
2 CommentsAs you might have noticed, I’ve been missing for a while over here. It has a lot to do with a trip out of town, in-laws visiting, and a very cranky little girl who feels the need to be held by Mommy every second they are together but you can read more about that over at my personal blog.
Fortunately, Christmas is coming and it has got me in the crafting mood. I have several projects lined up for the next couple of weeks so hopefully I’ll be posting a bit more frequently. The one that brought me out of my crafting slump was the need for new Christmas stockings. Since money is tight, I decided to go cheap…$1.99 cheap. I picked up four cheapo Christmas stockings and a package of glitter glue and went to town. These may be more appropriate to post over at Craftastrophe, but here they are in all their glory.
So much has happened since I last wrote a real post that I’m not sure where to even begin. The last couple of weeks have been so busy, yet so blessed at the same time. We had a wonderful Christmas. We got to spend lots of time with family which is always a joy, plus we had our own private Christmas morning at home where Zach was only slightly overwhelmed with the gifts that Santa left for him. He was thrilled to get lots of Toy Story gifts from Hubby and I, my sister’s family, and Grandma.
Zach ended up getting sick the weekend before Christmas, so he spent the day after Christmas at the office with me so I could take him to the doctor. As it turned out, he only had a cold but he was pretty miserable for a few days. Unfortunately, I think he passed it along to his cousins as two of them are sick now.
The best part of the holidays came Saturday though, when my little niece Caitlin was born. We were all very anxious for her arrival. She is absolutely adorable and I love watching my brother hold his little girl. I could spend hours just staring at her cute little face, but I’ve tried not to hog her too much.
We spent New Year’s Eve at home, joined by my sister’s family. We toasted in the New Year, put the kids all to bed, then stayed up until 3:00 a.m. playing Guitar Hero. Now we’re all just bumming around the house, trying to recover from the late night. Late nights just aren’t as easy as they used to be, even without the alcohol.
All in all, it has been a really good week and a half or so. I can’t think of a better way to start out the new year than being surrounded by family and those I love.
Comments closedI feel like I haven’t been home since Thursday night. I guess I have been home, but really only long enough to sleep, get up, shower, and head out again. Things have been just a tad bit busy.
Friday night after work, I convinced Hubby to go shopping with me and we completely finished our Christmas shopping. If I left anyone out then they are just going to have to deal with it because I am done. I still have some gifts to make, but I’m hoping I’ll get them done up this weekend. Only one of those has to be shipped and I’m really hoping I can get it finished in the next day or two. It may end up being a little late.
Saturday was spent at my nephew Ryan’s 3rd birthday party. The funniest moment of the day was when Zach tried to help Ryan blow out his candles and his hand managed to land right in the middle of the cake. Fortunately, no one minded too much and the cake was eaten up, hand print and all. After the party, we stuck around for a while and hung out with my family while we watched the snow continue to fall.
Sunday was spent at church, and then a holiday party for our Sunday School class. The party was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed getting to visit with some of our friends that we don’t get to hang out with often.
Monday it was back to work, but we had our office holiday lunch to break the day up and then I got to leave a little early to get Zach ready for his very first school Christmas program. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a bunch of toddlers and preschoolers, but it was really very cute.
Zachary’s class participated in an angel band where they played instruments and sang a few songs. Then they acted out the nativity scene with a little help from a narrator. Zachary got to play the part of a shepherd and was absolutely adorable. Unfortunately, he spent most of his stage time with his back to the crowd because he was fixated on trying to hang his sheep back up on the board behind him. After that, he decided to play with the hay in the manger. The only bad part was that it was too dark to get any good pictures of him. We got a few fuzzy shots of him, along with a very dark video but I guess that will have to do.
Tuesday was another busy night as we trekked up North to see my nephew Dylan’s Christmas play. He was really excited to get to play the part of Santa in the play and couldn’t wait for us to see him. He did an excellent job and the play was very cute. I managed to get a few pictures of him, although again the lighting was an issue.
Tonight I plan to go home and not do much of anything (except maybe some knitting) if I can help it. I’m already exhausted and it is only Wednesday. It’s a good thing I have a long weekend to look forward to.
2 CommentsMany years ago, my ex and I picked up a Christmas cd (A Very Special Christmas, Vol. 3) because it had a track on it by Chris Cornell. It also had some tracks by other artists we liked such as Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews, Hootie and the Blowfish, and a few others. Since that year, it has continued to be one of my favorite Christmas cds. It is the one I always pull out first when I want to get in the Christmas mood. There is one track on there that almost gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and that is Chris Cornell’s Ave Maria. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.
