Happy Birthday To The Hubby

IMG_8640

34 years ago God put this man on Earth.  Lucky for me, He saw fit to push him into my path and create this beautiful family that I love so much.

Happy Birthday, Hubby!  I hope you have a fabulous day and can’t wait to celebrate with you this weekend.

Greeting Cards Made Simple

Being a full-time working (out of the home) mom can be exhausting.  There is always something being left undone due to lack of time or energy.  After working all day, feeding, bathing, and chasing kids around all evening, all you want to do is sit and relax.  That’s why simple things like sending birthday wishes or a “just thinking of you” card to a friend often fall through the cracks.  Even if you remember to buy a card, you may forget to actually mail them (not that I would ever do anything like that).   Thankfully, I just discovered enGreet.com, an online greeting card store that sends out real cards through the mail.

Not only does enGreet send out the cards for you, but they print and mail them within one business day.  You can choose cards for all kinds of occasions – holidays, birthdays, sympathy, friendship, etc.  You can even find some fun non-traditional cards.  You can customize each and every card to suit your needs, upload your own photos, and there are even several handwriting style fonts you can use to write a personal message.

Want to send some special Valentine wishes out but haven’t had the time to shop for a card?  For only $2.99 plus postage, you can have it out in the mail tomorrow!  The even have St. Patrick’s Day cards!  You can also schedule your cards to be sent out on the date you specify if you like to think ahead.

EnGreet also had an e-mail reminder service so you never forget a birthday or special date.  Soon, they will be integrating with Facebook as well and will be able to import your Facebook contacts’ birthdays.  They will also have an option to sign up for text message reminders when it’s time to send a card or follow up with a phone call.

I have a feeling enGreet.com is going to change the way I send cards from now on!

Seriously, Where Did December Go?!?

So, I’m throwing up a few cute kid pics to distract from the fact that I haven’t really updated for most of the month of December.  Life got busy, ok?  To let you know just how busy it has been, I managed to lose about 8 pounds without even trying.  Between the crazy cleaning and prettying up my house in anticipation of the in-laws’ arrival and just not taking the time to eat, I guess my body used up some extra energy.  This also tells me that I should really spend less time sitting…next year.

So, on to the pictures.  Most of these were from my nephew Ryan’s 5th birthday party (and I’m still trying to deny that he’s 5, because that means Zach will be 5 in just a few short months!).

This one isn’t of kids, but it is a great pic of my dad and Debie so I thought I’d share it anyway!

They Grow Up So Fast

Yesterday was my nephew Dylan’s 8th birthday. I wanted to get this up on his actual birthday, but believe it or not, I actually spent the evening away from my computer and with my family.

Eight years ago, I was going through a difficult time in my life. I was about to graduate from college. I was splitting up with my ex-husband. My mom was going through treatments for breast cancer. My parents had recently separated. There were so many unknowns in my life. Then I got the call that my sister was heading to the hospital and my nephew was about to be born.

Baby Dylan

It is amazing the effect that a baby can have on a family. I had really pulled away from my family during college. We were all dealing with our own problems in life, but when Dylan was born, he was the one thing that pulled us all back together.

Before Dylan was born, I had no idea that it was possible to have so much love for a child. Sure, I loved babies, but this one was one of us. He was part of our family. He was wonderful.

In the eight years since he was born, our family has changed in so many ways. Sometimes it seems like his birth was just yesterday and sometimes it seems like it was a lifetime ago.

One thing I know for sure is that I love this boy with all my heart and I would do anything for him, just as I would my own child.
