It’s A Halloween Giveaway!

I’ve been hinting around for a while now about my big Halloween project and it is finally time to show it off.  It took a long time to get everything ready, especially since Evie’s sleep patterns have been extremely inconsistent lately.  I discovered that it is very hard to sew with a baby in your lap!

But, today I’m finally ready to share two big announcements.  First off, I have opened my very own Getting Crafty Etsy shop.  I’m a huge fan of Etsy and I’ve wanted to do this for a very long time.

The first items up for sale in my shop are these super cute reversible Halloween Trick or Treat bags. I wasn’t sure they would ever get finished in time, but I finally have enough to open up shop. There are currently two different patterns available – the sweet Pumpkins and Candy Corn or the spooky Ghosts and Goblins.

That isn’t the best part though.  One lucky person is going to win a bag of their own! There are three easy ways to enter the contest.

1.) Leave a comment telling me what you (or your kids) are dressing up as for Halloween.

2.) Post on Twitter about the giveaway (you must include @deew27 so I can find it).

3.) Stumble this post and leave a comment here letting me know that you did.

All entries must be completed by 5:00 p.m. (Central) on Thursday, October 9, 2008.  One winner will be randomly drawn from all entries at that time.  The lucky winner will win one reversible Pumpkins and Candy Corn Trick or Treat bag, perfect for toting around all those sweet treats the kids will be collecting.

Tote Bag Patterns and Tutorials

Multimedia messageThis is the very first tote bag I made. I think I was more impressed than anybody that it actually came out as well as it did. I intended for it to be a small diaper bag/purse that I could carry for a quick outing or trip to the store. It has definitely been used for that, as well as many other things in the months since I made it.

Today there was a comment on my Flickr account asking me if I had a pattern for the bag. I do have a pattern. Unfortunately, I downloaded it and didn’t keep track of the website that it came from so I can’t link to it. I searched and searched today and still can’t manage to find it (if anyone recognizes the pattern and has a link please share!), but I did find some other great patterns and tutorials that I wanted to share.

Here are some that I’m hoping to try out soon:

If those are too easy for you and you are feeling a bit adventurous, you might also want to try experimenting with some adjustable straps like the ones in You SEW Girl’s Adjustable Strap tutorial.

Are there any other great patterns or tutorials out there that I missed? Have you tried any of these that I listed? Leave a comment and let me know!
