iheartfaces – Photojounalism

When I first read that this week’s iheartfaces challenge was “photojournalism” I had no idea what I was going to do for it. But, as often is the case, the perfect opportunity came up Friday night.

Injury

My family was given tickets for the Kansas City Chiefs preseason game and I decided to go ahead and tote my camera along. These moments were caught while an injured player was on the field. A hush came over the crowd as his teammates went down to their knees to pray for him.

I am really loving the photojournalism photos this week. To see more, be sure to check out the list at iheartfaces!

iheartfaces – Surprise!

This week’s iheartfaces challenge is “Surprise!”  I searched through all of my photos that I took this last weekend when my nieces were visiting but couldn’t find one that really was what I wanted.  I did remember this one from a couple weeks ago that I took of Evie though.  We were fooling around while daddy was cooking dinner one night and I can’t remember exactly what was said in that moment to elicit it, but I love the look on her face.

iheartfaces – All About Babies

This week’s iheartfaces photo challenge theme is “All About Babies.” I haven’t participated in an iheartfaces challenge for a while for but I had to jump back in on this one.  A few weeks ago I got the opportunity to do a trial photo shoot with a friend’s newborn twins.  I’m still very much learning and was so nervous that I forgot some really important things, but I did get a few good shots.  This one is one of my favorites.  I was amazed that this little guy cooperated as well as he did while wide awake!

iheartfaces – Smiles

This week’s iheartfaces photo challenge theme is “Smiles.”  One of my favorite things about photography is being able to capture a genuine smile.  I get lots of forced cheesy looking grins from my kids, but when I capture a true smile born from happiness the photo usually becomes a favorite.  There’s just something so energizing when you can see the joy pouring out of a photo.

This last weekend we celebrated my nephew Brayden’s 3rd birthday.  His parents scored a great deal on this Power Wheels motorcycle and boy was he excited to receive it!  I have a feeling he’ll be spending a lot of time outside this summer!

iheartfaces – I Heart Desserts

This week’s iheartfaces photo challenge theme is “I Heart Desserts.”  I’ve been mostly trying to stay away from desserts lately, so the last thing I actually baked was Evie’s birthday cupcakes.  She has a thing for Elmo right now, so we made these simple cupcakes for her to share with her friends at day care.
