Opening Day

dec_06 410Today is opening day for the Royals, which means that half of the city will be taking off work and rushing out to the stadium for the game.  And where will I be?  At work, of course.  I waited too long and didn’t manage to get tickets to the game.  Normally I wouldn’t care much but not only is it opening day, it is opening day and they are playing the Red Sox.  What?  You thought I wanted to cheer on the Royals?  Let’s just hope the Sox do a little better than they did the last time they were in town.

I do have tickets for the Wednesday night game, but it just isn’t the same as a sold out opening day game.  I’m a little bummed out that I won’t be taking Zach along to the game, but he has surpassed the height for the free ticket and it would keep him up well past his bedtime.  I figured it wasn’t worth fighting a fussy toddler all night just to try to start building his love for the Red Sox.  Besides that, he doesn’t have the proper attire as he’s outgrown last year’s shirt and hat.  We’ll just have to watch them on TV this season as much as possible.

So, if any of you KC people have some extra tickets you want to get rid of, let me know.  I’ll come pick them up and I’ll love you forever.

  1. No help for you on that one…but you should probably hold off until he is a little older and can remember the games better – especially with ticket prices the way they are!

  2. Having spent my entire life in San Diego before moving here, I’m not much of a Royals fan either. But I honestly think there were ten people at work this afternoon. Everyone left to go tailgating.
