It is December 30th and I just put my Christmas cards in the mail this morning. Now I’m just trying to figure out a way to blame this on someone other than my own lazy self.
2 CommentsThis week is going by so fast and I still have so much to do before the end of the year, so I’m blogging instead. I still want to write about our trip and Christmas, but there is too much to write and I just don’t have the time to devote to it. Besides, there is stuff going on right now that I want to write about instead.
For one thing, my friend Amy is in town for a few days. She got in town lastnight and we got together with Lisa (the one who bumped me into hubby on the dance floor many years ago) who was celebrating her birthday. We all went to eat at Manny’s, one of the most yummy mexican places in KC. Somebody let it slip that Lisa was having a birthday, so she got a free dessert and this wonderful sombrero to remember the evening by.
Fortunately for me (not so much for her) Amy just happens to be here the day that I have no baby-sitter for Zach so she is staying at the house with him today. His baby-sitter is on vacation so my sister watched him Tuesday and Wednesday and hubby is off on Friday so he can watch him, but I was kinda stuck today. I’m so glad that she was willing to keep him. Otherwise he would be here at work with me and I would get nothing done at all.
I am looking forward to spending some time visiting with Amy too. Since she lives so damn far away, I only get to see her a couple of times a year when she comes back to visit her family. Lisa and I are trying really hard to convince her to move back, but she seems to have her mind set on California as her next home. Guess we’ll see what happens.
Oh yeah, somehow, on top of all the other stuff I need to do I managed to let myself get roped into convinced to throw a New Year’s Eve party. My sister wanted to have a little get-together, but her house is too small to have very many people over so she decided that we needed to have it at my house instead. It sounded like a great idea at first, but now that it is getting closer I’m not so sure. I still need to clean my house, plan out food and drinks, buy food and drinks, and mentally prepare myself to have a bunch of people over. I’m sure we’ll all have a good time, but it’s only two days away now, and I’m not even close to being ready.
I’m pretty sure that if I could just get some sleep everything would be better, but between my stuffy nose and cough and Zach’s stuffy nose and cough I’m up most of the night. I’m almost ready to hand Zach off to my mom just for one night so I can get some good solid sleep but I worry about him waking up and wanting to nurse and me not being there. Perhaps one of these days I’ll get gutsy and do it…when I’m tired enough.
I suppose I should get back to work before I babble on any more. It’s just so hard to work when you don’t want to!
1 CommentStill no time to write so I thought I would tease you a bit with a picture of Zach. To see the rest of my Christmas pics, you can click on my Flickr thingy over there —>
4 CommentsI really should be working and getting caught back up, but I really just want to be blogging. I haven’t written anything in over a week and it is about to drive me nuts. I didn’t realize just how much I missed it until today when I actually sat down in front of a computer again. So, I figured I could just write something short and sweet and get it out of my system for a little bit. Plus, I really wanted to share some exciting new developments.
Zachary turned 6 months old yesterday. Can you believe it? Half a year has already raced by. I just cannot believe how quickly the time goes when you have children. Three days before he hit that 6-month mark (Friday) he said his first word, which of course was "dada". His daddy was awfully proud but I had to bring him down a little when I told him that most babies do say that first and that Zach most likely has no idea what it actually means. It is still pretty exciting anyway. Then, on Christmas Eve as we were sitting in church I discovered that he has two little teeth just about ready to pop through the gums. My boobs are definitely not looking forward to the teeth, but I am looking forward to him being able to eat some real food (that baby food is expensive!) once he gets a couple more teeth in. Also, he is really close to being able to sit up by himself. As long as he has a toy or something he is interested in he will sit up. If he doesn’t have a distraction, he flops right over. It is kind of funny to watch.
Anyway, there is my baby update. I was just dying to get that out. Now that you all have been informed, I will go back to work. Hopefully tomorrow I will have pictures.
4 CommentsWe survived the trip and the holidays and now are trying to get back into our regular routine. We had a great time in Louisiana. I have TONS to write about, but it will have to wait until later. Right now, I must try to get myself caught up at work.
1 CommentBy the time this posts (if my delayed posting works) I should be well on my way to the glorious state of Louisiana. I am actually looking forward to seeing my in-laws and having a little time away from here to relax for a few days. If nothing else, Zach will have tons of attention and I’ll get a little bit of a break from the Mommy must be holding me at all times or I will scream phase that he is currently going through. I’m sure Granny will make a fine substitute for at least a little while. Plus, I may even be able to hand him off and go back to bed if I’m really lucky. Well, it’s a nice thought anyway.
What I’m definitely not looking forward to is not having my wireless network or even a dial-up internet connection while I’m gone. I tried looking up an access number for my ISP lastnight and the closest number is still long distance from my brother-in-law’s house. They do have DSL, so I can get on the internet, but I can’t hook up my laptop to it (where I can surf and blog privately) unless they agree to let me unhook their computer and hook mine up. Hopefully they will be understanding. I may be forced to blog only on my other web site until I get back as this one is semi-private (as in NO FAMILY allowed). I don’t think I realized how much my life revolves around the internet until I was faced with the fact that I may not have it for an entire week.
I guess the whole point of this is, I will most likely be MIA for at least the next week, and probably won’t be back until after Christmas unless I get really lucky or find a wireless connection I can hook up to somewhere. So, I want to wish all of my wonderful readers a very happy holiday season, whether you are celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or other special holiday. Take time to appreciate your family and friends and make it special this year. And, rest assured, I will return with lots of cute baby pictures after Christmas!
