Too Tired To Come Up With A Witty Title

Well, there’s nothing quite like launching a brand new site and then not adding any new content, eh? Blame it on the plague that has taken over my chest. The coughing and hacking is lots of fun, let me tell you. I have a whole new appreciation for just breathing.

In between all of that, I’ve been doping myself up to keep the fever down and working my butt off. Zach has been really needing to have his own space for a while now. He’s actually been sleeping in our office/guitar/guest/craft/shove everything room for several weeks now, so this weekend we started moving him into that room and moving my stuff out. I have a LOT of stuff. So much that I haven’t figured out where in the heck I’m going to put it all so there’s still an extra pile of junk in the middle of his room.

What was previously the playroom is now the office/guitar/craft room. I’m doing my best to keep it nice and clean looking and not junk it up, so the pile of junk has no where to go. Which means that I probably need to get rid of most of it, right? As soon as I can find the time to sort, most of it will probably be trashed but there are still some things that need to find a new home somewhere. Sadly, looking at that pile just makes me want to go crawl in my bed and sleep for a week.

In other news, I did my first family photo shoot that did not include anyone related to me this weekend. I had the chance to shoot a friend and her family and even though the location I had carefully chosen was closed when I got there, everything turned out just fine. I got some great photos of the family together, and all four boys individually so I’m putting it in the win column. I’m still sorting/editing but can’t wait to share them with the family.

I have a few more photography-related opportunities coming up in the next couple of months and I’m really excited about it. My family is getting a bit tired of me always having a camera lens in their faces, so it is really fun to have other people to shoot for a change!

I feel like I’ve been playing a huge game of catch-up lately in every aspect of my life. There are just so many things going on and I can barely keep up. What I would really like is for someone to come take over all of the un-fun stuff so I could just hang out with my hubby and kids, blog, and take pictures. Any takers?

Germy, Germy, Germs

Zach's Curly/Spikey Do

This adorable little boy? He got me sick. He looks so harmless, but the truth is he is full of icky germs and likes to spread them to his Mama. He started running a fever just before bedtime on Thursday night but had no other symptoms. The fever was mysteriously gone Friday morning and he didn’t show any signs of being sick. Of course Evie started the fever Friday morning so I ended up staying home with both of them.

Saturday night we went to Disney on Ice (which was awesome except for the part where Evie didn’t want to sit still and I had to take her out to walk around) where we shared our $8 popcorn and $4 bottle of pop.

Sunday morning Zach woke up a stuffy, sneezy, coughing mess (he may have been coughing and sneezing a little Sat. night but I just assumed it was allergies with the crazy weather we’ve had). And so did I, with an emphasis on the coughing. And then I sent him to day care that way today because I already missed work on Friday. Yes, I’m that mom. I know. Chances are he got it there anyway.

Fortunately, Evie seems to have escaped the cough of death. I? Feel like my throat is on fire and I’m pretty sure Zach does too since I’ve been listening to him hack and cough in bed for over two hours now.

The sad part is that I can’t drug up either one of us since I’m still breastfeeding (though rarely these days) and all those reports about kids’ cold/cough medicine scared me away from giving Zach anything.  I guess we’ll just spend the night coughing together.

P.S.  But seriously? How cute is his hair all spiked up like that?  I love it!

P.P.S.  Here’s a little bonus video of Evie walking the corridor at Kemper during Disney on Ice.  She’s getting awfully good at it!

P.P.P.S. If you haven’t been over there lately, go over to Getting Crafty and see what I’ve been making!

The Only Good Thing About This Week Is That It Is Almost Over

Halloween Night 2008

So, not that I necessarily need to state the obvious, but I’m not participating in NaBloPoMo this year. I considered it, but I just simply can’t post every day. Heck, I’m lucky to post once a week here lately. I’ll try my hardest to keep up with all of you who are participating, but from the looks of my feed reader right now that isn’t really going to happen either.

If you follow me on Twitter, then you know why I haven’t updated this week. Evie has been one sick little girl and pretty much all of my time has been consumed snuggling and soothing a cranky baby. The girl has been blessed with excellent health up until now so of course when it happened it happened in a big way.

She started running a fever either Sunday night or Monday morning. I though she felt a little warm at day care drop off Monday morning, but brushed it off thinking it was just because the car was a little warm on the way there. By the time I picked her up she was definitely feverish and it hasn’t let up since.

After finding out Tuesday morning that the other baby at day care (2 months younger than Evie) had a confirmed case of Strep, I called the doctor and took Evie in.  Evie tested negative, but continues to show signs of possible Strep so if she’s not better by Friday morning we’re going back to the doctor.

I’ve been trying to cram in as much work as possible from home while Evie naps or (on very rare occasions) plays in the play pen next to me.  Yesterday she graced me with a three hour nap.  Today? Not so much with the napping.  It looks like we’ll be home again tomorrow.  I really hope my boss isn’t getting mad at me for being gone so much.

In other news, we had an excellent Halloween.  We took the kids trick-or-treating around my sister’s neighborhood and then headed over to see my dad and his wife for a bit at a friend’s house.  We caught up with my brother, his wife, and my niece there as well.  Then we went back to my sister’s house for a bit and let the kids play until they were ready to drop.  On the way home Zach said, “Mommy, I LOVE Halloween!”  Then he fell asleep and stayed that way until 10:00 a.m.

Somehow I managed to get totally motivated on Saturday morning.  I started cleaning out our guest/guitar/sewing/junk room to prepare for some re-arranging of furniture.  Then I decided it would be a brilliant idea to pull the nasty carpet up.  I knew there was hard wood underneath it.  I just didn’t know what kind of condition it was in.  There are a few bad spots, but it really isn’t horrible.  I’m really glad that we got rid of the carpet, but my body was not so happy with me.  Hubby wasn’t feeling well so I did the majority of the heavy lifting on my own and I felt every bit of it the next morning.

The re-arranging project is now about halfway complete.  The guest room is now an office/music/craft room with a futon for our occasional overnight guests instead of the full-size bed.  It came in quite handy this week while I’ve been trying to work from home.  The room the computer and desk were in is set to become a play room for the kids as soon as I can finish cleaning up the junk in there, get the carpet cleaned, and actually move the toys.  Unfortunately, Evie being sick has really slowed down my progress this week.  I was hoping to at least get to cleaning the carpet so that by Saturday we could be setting up the toys in there.

So, that’s pretty much where I’m at right now.  I know this was a really long and boring post, but I always feel the need to catch up before I can write anything of substance.  Hopefully once I get finished with my little home makeover project (and Evie is feeling better) I’ll be able to get back to more regular blogging.  Maybe someday I’ll even get Evie’s 7 month letter written, possibly even before she turns 8 months.
