Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

I’m not sure how many times I have wished for more hours in the day but I sure do wish someone would take my request seriously. This weekend, as most are, was packed full of activities. We barely spent any time at home where I had a huge list of things that needed to be done. Which means that very little of it got done. However, I did get to spend a lot of time with my family which was probably more important anyway.

Saturday morning we got up bright and early and headed downtown for the Shriner’s Circus. My dad had received a bunch of free tickets, so it was a couple hours of free entertainment. Zach didn’t seem too entertained by the circus, but he sure was mesmerized by all the cool light-up toys that the kids were carrying around. My almost 6-year-old nephew probably enjoyed it the most. He got to ride an elephant which just thrilled him. It was a total rip-off at $5 a ride (for only about a 1-minute ride) but Grandpa just couldn’t say no. I have some pictures but haven’t had a chance to get them off of my camera yet.

Saturday night we went out for dinner to celebrate my little brother’s birthday. We ate mexican food so I totally blew my diet. It’s awfully hard to pass up a margarita and chips and salsa when you are eating mexican. In fact, for me at least, it’s damn near impossible. The food was great and the margarita was even better. Afterwards we hung out at my brother’s house for a while. It was the first time I had been over there since they got all unpacked.

Sunday we went to church and had our usual family dinner at my dad’s. The babies both fell asleep after dinner so my sister and I decided to go do some quick shopping while the guys finished watching the football game. I couldn’t help swinging past the toy section for a few minutes. There are so many things I want to buy Zach for Christmas! I’m trying to stick to a budget, but they just have so many neat toys out now. I really need to get started on my Christmas shopping though. I did buy one thing for Zach yesterday, but that’s the first Christmas gift I have purchased.

On top of all that, I managed to steal Zach’s cold from him that he had last week. By the time I went to bed lastnight I could barely breathe. Hopefully it won’t last long!
