Fresh is Good

I’ve been getting very tired lately of listening to the same old music over and over again. I’m so tired of in in fact, that I haven’t even been listening to music at work lately because there just isn’t anything that I really want to listen to. This is very strange for me. I’m usually the one in the office that has music going all day long. I’m not really sure what the problem is. I think I’m just bored with what I have been listening to. Two of my favorite bands have put out new albums recently, but even those aren’t entertaining me.

I think part of the problem is that I just haven’t had time to really listen to music. I turn it on in the car or at work but it is more background music than something that I am actively listening to. In my previous life (before baby) listening to music was one of my favorite things to do. Now I just don’t have time to do that.

Friday night hubby and I are going to see Shinedown play at the new Voodoo lounge here in KC. We’ve seen them I think 3 times already and they always put on a great show. I’m hoping that it will spark my interest in music a bit. I haven’t been to a rock concert (other than Sarah Mclachlan if you count her as rock) since almost a year ago and guess who that was? Shinedown! I am really looking forward to it. (It will also be only the 3rd time that hubby and I have been out without the baby since he was born.) I really miss my concert-going days. Music used to be such a big part of my life and now I’m just all baby, all the time.

Hmmm, I managed to get off track a bit. The whole point of this post was supposed to be that I’m really wanting some new music to listen to. I want some good rock music that will get me going and just make me want to jam out for a bit. I don’t have time to search, so I’m looking for suggestions. Tell me what you are listening to right now and if you’ve got something that you think will float my boat let me know.

  1. El Santo El Santo

Mother Love Bone, Prong, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (Devotional and Love Song in particular), Paw, or Social Distortion.

  2. Not sure what kind of music you’re looking for, but I’m completely in love with Motion City Soundtrack’s CD “Commit this to Memory”. It’s a good thing to check out if you’re looking for variety.

  3. I’m actually listening to music that is more uppity. Recently the closest I’ve been getting to rock is CCR and Coldplay, lol.

  4. do you like Ben Harper?
    How about Nickleback?
    Sum41?
    Holly McNarland?
    k-os?
    Keith Urban?
I’ve got some weird tastes… I mean weird to mix together. I could go on forever.
i also lost touch with my tunes after I had Paige… i’m just getting back into it with my new ipod… I wear it around the house while I’m doing chores, it’s great~

  5. Hmm…I’m into Jack Johnson at the moment. I can’t get enough of his music!

It depends on my mood what I’m into…anything from DMb, or BNL to Janis Joplin to Velvet Revolver or Godsmack…

One suggestion would be to sign up for Yahoo’s download service – it’s $60 for the year, but you get UNLIMITED downloads for the year. I’ve found that downloading one song makes me think of another song, which reminds me of three more songs…it’s a downward spiral. 🙂
