Home Sweet Home

We’re finally back from our whirlwind vacation to the South.  When we headed out Friday evening, we had full intentions of stopping halfway at a hotel for the night.  Sometime between about 1 and 2 a.m. we hit Memphis and tried to find a hotel, but everything we could afford was booked up.  So, we decided to just keep driving.  I was running on about 4 hours of sleep from the night before, but managed to stay awake for the duration of the drive.  We finally arrived at my in-laws’ house (near Mobile, AL) around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and all went straight to bed for a nap.

The first two days in Alabama it rained so we didn’t do a whole lot.  We visited with Hubby’s family, went to some church functions with Hubby’s parents and ate a lot of food.  Once the rain stopped, we made several day trips.  We toured the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola, FL, drove to Dauphin Island to enjoy some time at the beach, and then left the kids behind while we headed out to New Orleans for a day.  Thursday, we packed up all of our stuff, took the kids for one last swim, then took off for Hubby’s home town to visit more family and some friends.

Saturday we spent all day in the car again driving home.  We finally got home around 1:00 a.m. and crashed.   It was a great trip, and even though I’m happy to be home, I wish it could have lasted just a little bit longer.

Glad you are back! Thanks for sharing the pic. Where I am in the South has looked nothing like that for the past week or so. It’s been pouring here in H-Town and I’m thinking about building an arc soon – except for the fact that it’s 95degrees, so I think I’ll just sit on my couch and watch the rain out the window.

Can’t wait to hear more stories about your trip.
